Kent Laursen is a Senior Software Architect with the Integrated Systems & Solutions Division of Scientific Research Corporation where he supports the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command SPAWAR. His focus is the ongoing improvement and automation of engineering processes and practices across the technology acquisition lifecycle through the application of standards based models and model-oriented knowledge management.
Prior to joining Scientific Research Corporation, Kent worked in the bioinformatics industry, first in the discovery domain as a Senior Software Architect for GenoLogics Life Sciences Software and then in the clinical domain as Director of Product Development for Indigo BioSystems. During this time he applied modeling to commercial software product development and to the evolution of life sciences data standards as a working member of the HUPO Proteomics Standards Initiative.
Kent's early interest in modeling came to fruition when he became the Senior North American Consultant for Select Business Solutions, an MDA-compliant tool vendor that was an early committer to OMG's Model Driven Architecture program. During his tenure with SBS, he delivered services to help customers achieve success with model driven practices, agile process improvement, reusable asset management, component based development and service oriented architecture.
